Excel Help - How to Adjust Column Width in Excel 2013
In this video you’ll learn how to change column width to display more text.
There are several easy ways to adjust column width. The first way is by double-clicking the column border. This automatically modifies the column to fit the text it contains.
Another way is by dragging the column border.
Point to the border between two column headings and wait for the pointer to take the shape of a two-headed arrow.
Now, drag the border to the left or right to decrease or increase the size of the column.
When adjusting the width by dragging, you can see the size of the width changing in the box above the two-headed arrow.
If you have a specific width in mind, the third way to change column width allows you to set a specific column size.
To do this, go to the Home tab, click on the Cells group, choose Format. Click on Column Width, type a size manually, and click OK.
Finally, Excel has a button to automatically adjust the column width to fit the text. If you go to Home, click on Cells, and select Format, you can click ‘Autofit column width’.
If your text is long and you can’t see all of it, you can also split it onto several lines. Go to the toolbar and find Wrap text. Click Wrap text and see the text wrapped into multiple lines.
